Privacy Policy

Last updated September 30, 2026

This policy explains what personal information Chitova's Guesthouse collects through this website, why we collect it, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. We have tried to keep it short and in plain language.

Who we are

Chitova's Guesthouse is a private guesthouse at 1040 Aerodrome Suburb, 1059 Siringa Rd, Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, run by Norman Nyamandi and team. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Chitova's Guesthouse. For anything in this policy you can reach us at [email protected] or on WhatsApp at +263 78 430 9188.

What we collect and why

Enquiries. If you use the contact form, we receive the details you type in: your name, email address, phone number (optional), your check-in and check-out dates (optional) and your message. We use them only to reply to you, answer your questions and, if you go ahead, prepare for your stay. If you email or message us on WhatsApp instead, we receive what you send and use it the same way.

Bookings made on other platforms. Reservations are made through Airbnb or Booking.com, not on this website. Those platforms collect your booking and payment details under their own privacy policies, and we receive the booking information we need to host you.

Technical data. When you visit, our hosting provider automatically processes your IP address and basic technical information (browser type, pages requested, time of the request) in order to deliver the site and keep it secure. We do not use this to identify you personally.

Analytics and maps. With your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this website, and we show a Google map on the Location page. These use cookies and collect information such as the pages viewed and approximate location. You can accept or decline using the banner, and change your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer.

Advertising. We do not use advertising cookies.

Our legal basis

We handle enquiry details because it is necessary to respond to your request and to take steps toward a stay you have asked about, and because of our legitimate interest in running the guesthouse and answering the people who contact us. Where the law requires your consent (for example, loading Google Analytics or the Google map), we ask for it, and you can withdraw it at any time.

Services that receive your information

The fonts on this site are hosted on our own server, so your browser does not contact Google Fonts. We do not sell your personal information.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or as the law requires.

Where your information goes

Our service providers may process information on servers outside Zimbabwe, including in the United States and Europe. We only use providers that we reasonably expect to keep information secure, and we share only what is needed for the service to work.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit or object to how we use it, or give you a copy. You can also withdraw any consent you have given. To do any of this, email us at [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable time.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ), which acts as the data protection authority under Zimbabwe's Cyber and Data Protection Act, or, if you live in the European Union or United Kingdom, to your local data protection authority.

Security

This site is served over HTTPS. We limit who can see enquiries and we do not keep payment card details, because payments are handled by Airbnb and Booking.com. No online service can be guaranteed completely secure, so please do not include sensitive information, such as passport or card numbers, in your enquiry.

Children

This website is intended for adults planning a trip. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and the date at the top.
